  2. Memorial Day Weekend Photo Shoot

Memorial Weekend 2006 I - Golden Gate Etc.

My friend (and teacher) Chris Hurtt and I did a Memorial Day Photo Junket a few years back - watching the sun rise over the Golden Gate Bridge. This weekend we did not start quite as early, and we went to Treasure Island first to get this panorama of the city (from Bridge to Bridge) in the early morning light.
We next proceeded to the Golden Gate and beyond (Muir Beach overlook).
You'll notice, we both have fisheye lenses, and we are not afraid to use them. :)

  • This is a really big panorama, from bridge-to-bridge in San Francisco. To see it up close, you will have to click on the "O" size below, and then scroll from Left (the Bay Bridge) to Right (the Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz). Be patient, it might take some time to download. There are larger versions at the end of this gallery.

  • The fisheye give a complete 180 degree perspective. Notice the Bridge tower at the far right, and how the bridge deck wraps around me as I point the camera out towards the San Fracisco Bay (that is the city itself, on that curved horizon).

  • These next photos were taken at the Muir Beach overlook, just north of the Golden Gate on Highway 1.

  • We made another quick stop at the Golden Gate on the way home. Now the sun is behind us.
